Prospective candidates
The Application
The application itself consists of a resume and a personal essay. Alongside it, we run a pitch competition in small groups, purely strategy-based and requiring no prior finance background, an optional but highly encouraged way for candidates to further stand out. From this pool, a select group of candidates is invited to interview.
Fall Recruitment
BUFC welcomes freshmen from every major and background, with no finance experience required to apply. Each fall, we admit a selective cohort chosen less for what's already on a resume than for character: we look for students who are coachable, intellectually curious, and genuinely motivated to learn, on the belief that technical skill can be built within the club, but drive and a genuine receptiveness to feedback cannot be taught.
FRESHMeN
Each fall, we also admit a limited number of sophomores. Because sophomores enter recruiting on a shorter runway, their interview includes light technicals, and candidates are assessed on their recruiting potential. We assume sophomore applicants already have a genuine interest in finance, a working familiarity with the industry, and a clear sense of the roles they're targeting; our job from there is to help them execute. Sophomores who join the club become Junior Analysts within the Investment Research Division, the same as freshmen.

In the spring, BUFC opens a smaller round of admissions for freshmen only. Sophomores are not considered for spring admission.

A mandatory information session and application workshop; only students who attend receive access to the application. We hold this session so every candidate starts from the same footing, with the same information and the same understanding of what we're looking for, before anyone applies.
