Your Future in Finance
Your Future in Finance (YFIF) is Boston University Finance and Investment Club's premier event of the fall semester, bringing together accomplished BU alumni who now serve as leaders across the finance industry. The event is structured into five segments: a morning panel, two breakout sessions, a keynote address, and a closing networking reception for students.
YFIF offers BUFC members a critical opportunity to gain insight into the realities of various roles within the finance industry and to better understand how to position themselves for a successful entry into the field. The guidance shared by our distinguished alumni network serves as an invaluable resource in shaping the career trajectories of our attending members.
Wall Street TrEK
The annual Wall Street Trek is one of BUFC's signature experiences, offering our sophomore class an immersive opportunity to step inside the offices of leading financial institutions and connect directly with BU alumni working across Wall Street. Every fall semester, our sophomore members travel to New York City for two days of open-floor networking and firm visits throughout Manhattan, gaining insight into each firm's culture and business while having the chance to ask questions and engage directly with alumni.
Beyond the exposure itself, the Trek has become a launching pad for many members' careers, with numerous alumni connections made during the trip translating into internship and full-time employment opportunities. It remains one of the most valued and formative experiences the club has to offer.
Investor Summit
Every year, BUFC EBoard in partnership with the Alumni Development Office, hosts an Investment Summit in New York City, convening a distinguished audience of senior alumni to present sample investment recommendations, fund updates, and strategic initiatives underway within the club. Our Chief Investment Officer speaks to the fund's performance and positioning, while our Program Directors discuss the club's programming, our member selection process, and how we cultivate the personal and professional acumen our members need to succeed in recruiting; all in service of soliciting the candid feedback and insight only our alumni can offer.
BUFC Speaker series
The BUFC Speaker Series brings prominent leaders from across the finance industry to campus for candid conversations, hosted by the club and open to all Boston University students. Beyond hearing firsthand how these individuals think about their industries and navigate their careers, attendees have the opportunity to engage directly, asking questions, exchanging ideas, and building connections that extend well beyond the room.
The BUFC Modeling and Valuation Course is a free, semester-long program taught by Professor Salemy, offered every fall to align with the high finance recruiting cycle and give students focused technical preparation ahead of interviews. Organized and hosted by BUFC but open to all Boston University students, the course can deepen the technical foundation of those already studying finance in Questrom, while also serving as a first point of entry into the field for students from non-finance academic backgrounds. Structured like a formal class, it includes weekly deliverables culminating in a final investment memo, and students who complete the course successfully receive a certificate of completion.
