The Investment Research Division is BUFC's flagship program for developing analytical and valuation skill, guided throughout by the club's trained Senior Analysts across a full academic year. In the fall, each Junior Analyst builds an independent, qualitative thesis on a company of their choosing, sharpening it week by week through industry and business model analysis, competitive positioning, and risk assessment, culminating in a final stock pitch. In the spring, Junior Analysts apply that same qualitative process to a new company, this time building a full three-statement model, DCF, and comps valuation on top of it to round out their skillset with a quantitative layer, culminating in a fully quantified pitch with a defensible price target. That final pitch, combined with an interview, determines which Junior Analysts matriculate into the Investment Management program as second-years.
